Report: Councillor Hunter Madsen, dated March 21, 2021

  • Recommendation(s):


    THAT Council generally support the framework for refining Port Moody’s growth priorities and evaluating development opportunities as recommended in the report and attached white paper dated March 21, 2021 from
    Councillor Hunter Madsen regarding Shaping the Next Port Moody – 7 Development Pitfalls and 7 Guidelines for Prudent Growth;

    AND THAT Council direct staff to determine, by reliable measurement, the extent of community support for elements of the framework proposed in this report, as part of the community input process toward updating the City’s Official Community Plan (OCP);

    AND THAT any confirmation of strong community support for elements of this framework be reflected accordingly in the community vision of the updated OCP.

    THAT staff be directed to develop questions for the Port Moody 2050 OCP Update Community Survey No. 2 based on key themes and topics identified by Council, in addition to the themes from the Community Survey No. 1 results as outlined in the report dated March 17, 2021 from the Community Development Department – Policy Planning Division regarding Port Moody 2050 Official Community Plan Update – Community Survey No. 2 – Key Themes and Topics.

    THAT staff be directed to distribute the Tax Bill Questionnaire with the City’s 2021 tax bill mailing as recommended in the report dated March 8, 2021 from Councillor Hunter Madsen regarding Tax Bill Questionnaire to Gather Public Input on Key Community Issues for the Next Official Community Plan Update;

    AND THAT staff be directed to conduct the survey outlined on the Tax Bill Questionnaire on the City website;

    AND THAT staff report back on results of the survey.

    THAT the recommendations approved at the Committee of the Whole meeting of March 30, 2021 be ratified.
